Being indulgent without excess seems like an oxymoron. The truth is that not everything “stays in Vegas” or chosen locale. The one thing that comes home is the extra baggage around your mid-section. Keep trim and let loose with some low-cal alcoholic beverages this Labor Day.

Red Wine Spritzer

5 ounces of red wine is a mere 120 calories. Order a red wine spritzer with 2-3 ounces of red wine with soda water. It halves the calories of a full glass of wine.

Vodka with Cranberry Juice

vodka

There are about 96 calories in a 1.5 ounce shot of gin, whiskey, rum or vodka. Mix that shot of vodka with 4 ounces of light cranberry juice for approximately 120 calories.

A Light Brew

A number of beer companies provide some low-cal options. Some are tastier than others. Miller Genuine Draft brews MGD 64 lemonade, a sweet light beer that is 64 calories. This beer is typically available until Labor Day.

Michelob Ultra is a fruity flavored beer. The original Ultra, and its 12 ounce companions: Amber, Lime Cactus, Pomegranate Raspberry and Dragon Fruit Peach Ultras, will all run you 95 calories each.

Avoid These Caloric Plagues:

Margaritas and other drinks heavy in cola or fruit juices
Pina Coladas and frozen or creamy drinks
Crème de Menthe and alcohol with high levels of calories and sugar

Stay up all night and do all those things that make you blush in the morning. Remember, you only live once. Finding the balance to avoid overindulgence is key. Keep in mind that over-indulging could make your return to reality extra painful. Drink Responsibly.
